# 1 COMMON QUESTION OF ALL TIME:
Q. "Is lymphatic therapy painful after surgery?" by Asmita
A. No, the NLC VMLD Vogel Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Medical Massage is a
gentle and soothing treatment designed to enhance comfort and accelerate
recovery. We create a siphon, a draw, to drain inflammation. We do not massage incision or swelling. We draw fluid to the drain, the
venous angle/ the Terminus, to which you can urinate it out.
#2 COMMON QUESTION OF ALL TIME:
Q. "What is lymphatic drainage, how does it help after surgery and how soon after surgery can I come in?" by Asmita
A. Manual Lymphatic Drainage MLD or LDM is a gentle massage technique that reduces swelling, prevents
fluid retention, and smooths out results Post Lipo for faster recovery.
Post Deep-plane lift, Elevate, Neck lift, Bleph, Abdominoplasty, Panniculectomy , Key hole top,
the wait is at least 5 days to rest and heal then let us begin drawing the fluid to the drain. So, it starts at collar bone and underarm to
draw safely and effectively. As a post surgical clinic, we are CLT-LMT experts.
#3 COMMON QUESTION OF ALL TIME:
Q. How soon after surgery can I begin lymphatic therapy? by Every surgical patient Ever.
A. You can typically start within a few days post-surgery, depending on your doctor’s
recommendations. Our team tailors care to your recovery timeline.
5 days for knees, hips, breast augmentation, explant, implant
10 days mastectomy, oncology in general, abdominoplasty, plastic surgery.
#4th COMMON QUESTION OF ALL TIME BY LYME PATIENTS:
Q. "Am I going to feel sick from this session? Am I going to experience Herxing?" by Kristin
A. Hopefully not. NLC takes great care to open up the junctures and main drain, the Terminus/Venous angle so a siphon is created, a
draw. This helps the fluid to drain in an orderly way for lymph nodes to process lymphatic load rather than creating a dust storm of
debris. You will want to continue to do self skin sweeping MLD and dry brushing to let let anything build up, because when I start that
lymphatic plexus water current, you will want to keep lymphatic pathways open. Great question, Kristin!
Q Why is lymphatic care important after an Abdominoplasty? by many clients
A. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Medical Massage and LET Lymphatic enhancement
therapy helps reduce swelling, prevent fluid buildup, and speed up
healing after an Abdominoplasty, ensuring optimal recovery and results.
Q. From Kimmie "Hello. I am reading a book on how to get rid of cellulite. It states that lymph nodes are block & a good way to get the lymph system flowing is by getting a lymphatic massage. . Do you provide that service?"
A. "Dear Ms. Mcneill,
Hello and thank you for your inquiry about lymphatic massage. Yes, you have a
good understanding already that the blockages must be dissolved before fluid can
drain. Sometimes I use the analogy that the toll booth must be open for the traffic to
flow. Blockages can include clogged lymph nodes, fascial restrictions, scarring,
hardened adipose, elastic from garments, creases in joints from inactivity, sluggish
areas, or the condition of lipedema. We at NLC offer specialized help with all of
those issues with lymphatic massage, manual lymphatic drainage, Lymphstar Pro
high frequency, iLipo cold laser, and Venus Legacy laser which we consider a
liposuction alternative. You are invited to schedule a consult with an NLC Director
and learn information customized to your personal desired outcomes. Thank you
again for your inquiry. Best of Health, Sharon M. Vogel"
Q. I have heart conditions and AFIB. Can I still have MLD Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
I need this swelling taken care of! by Gennie
A. MLD is contraindicated for those with COPD, emphysema, AFIB, and other heart issues only because mld moves fluid into the heart and
circulatory system, sometimes too fast for comfort. If the heart and lungs are already burdened, then to have issues such as swelling
from edema or lymphedema professionally treated, it is best in a hospital lymphedema clinic where AED and emergency medical care available. NLC has the policy of not seeing AFIB clients, because we care. We used to have vibration plates on our list of things-to-do to
help drain swelling, but it has come to my awareness that this too is contraindicated, so we have removed it from our texting snippet.
So do take care of your swelling by seeing a physician tht knows about lymphedema and swelling, like Dr Joseph Feldman
of Northshore. One thing you can do is to practice exercises given to you by your PT or massaging the collarbone, even skin sweeping
from underarm to chest.

Q. WHAT IS MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE?
A. NLC MLD is the Vodder, Foldi, and Vogel Method of MLD. It is comfortable, soothing, and effective, so expect to feel better. MLD is a rhythmic and gentle skin stretching massage technique that moves stagnant thick fluid build up. It is like a windshield wiper or a squeegee. Manual is Latin for hands, so MLD is hands-on therapy. Lymph is the interstitial fluid vacuumed up by the lymph vessels and lymph nodes allowing for a better immune system. Drainage means that the fluid is massaged towards the junctures or the clusters of lymph nodes located behind knees, inguinal, abdomen, underarm/axillary, clavicle. https://www.lymphatics.net/custom.asp?PID=11827

A. No. If you are in pain from swelling then you are in the right skillful hands of NLC therapists.
The massage does not hurt because
NLC therapists are are specially skilled to
know what NOT to do and what TO DO. NLC LMT-CLT therapists know how to do proper Vodder Clinical Manual Lymph Drainage, not just a simple lovely relaxation lymph massage (also very nice, but different). We start by having you belly breath, then we massage near the sternum and collar bone, then in a systematic anatomical circuit move towards the area of swelling by massaging/skin sweeping (VMLD) moving the hair on the body without tugging skin or any pressure, this gets things going, then we move the skin without moving the muscle. We call it the windshield wiper. VIDEO.
